During my recent trip to Armenia, one of the best decisions I made was booking accommodation right in the heart of the capital.

There are many hotels in the center of Yerevan and staying in one made exploring the city incredibly easy and enjoyable. I didn’t fully realize how much of a difference the location would make until I got there.

From the moment I arrived, I noticed how convenient the location was. Republic Square, Northern Avenue, the Opera House, the Vernissage market and the famous Cascade Complex were all within walking distance. I didn’t need public transport or taxis to visit the city’s main highlights – it felt like everything was just steps away.

I could start my day with a quiet stroll through Lovers’ Park, explore galleries and museums by midday and enjoy rooftop drinks or traditional music performances by night – all without ever needing to leave the central district.

Cafés, restaurants, bakeries, souvenir shops, museums, banks and currency exchange points were literally around the corner. I found a great little wine bar just two blocks away and several excellent places to try Armenian cuisine like dolma, khorovats and gata within a short walk.

Whether I felt like having a relaxed coffee, grabbing street food, or enjoying a full-course dinner, there were countless options nearby.

The hotel I chose was clean, modern and well-managed. It wasn’t overly luxurious, but it had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff spoke multiple languages, including English and Russian and were always happy to help with recommendations, reservations, or directions.

I really appreciated how welcoming and professional they were. My room had a comfortable bed, reliable Wi-Fi, a mini fridge and even a small balcony with a view of Mount Ararat on clear mornings – a sight I won’t forget anytime soon.

Breakfast was included and to my surprise, it was much more varied than expected. Each morning, there was a buffet-style spread with Armenian pastries, fresh fruit, local cheeses, eggs, cereals and even European favorites like croissants and cappuccino. It was the perfect way to start each day.

One of the things I enjoyed most was how safe and lively the city center felt, even in the evening. After dinner, I could take a leisurely walk around Republic Square or through Northern Avenue, where street musicians played, fountains danced to music and families strolled together.

I never felt uneasy walking alone – the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and the area remained well-lit and active until late.

There are plenty of hotels in the center of Yerevan to suit a wide range of budgets and preferences – from affordable guesthouses and boutique hotels to well-known international chains and five-star luxury properties.

Some are tucked into quiet side streets for extra peace, while others are right on the main avenues for those who enjoy being in the middle of it all. I also noticed that many central hotels offer airport transfers, guided tours and concierge services, which is a huge plus for first-time visitors.

Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, with friends, or with family, you’ll have no trouble finding accommodation that fits your needs. Some hotels even have family suites, spa services, or business centers, depending on what you’re looking for.

And while staying in the outskirts of the city might save a few dollars, I found that staying central gave me far more value in terms of experience, time and convenience.

Staying in the center of Yerevan not only saved me time, but also gave me the chance to really immerse myself in the local rhythm of daily life – the smell of fresh bread in the morning, the hum of evening conversations over coffee and the music spilling out from bars and terraces. It made the city feel like home, even for a short while.

If you’re planning a trip to Armenia, I strongly recommend choosing a hotel in the center of Yerevan. It’s the best way to truly experience the charm, culture and spirit of the city – all from your doorstep.
