He is suffering, He is sad, he is tired, he is unjuried in his life. He has probably lost everything, his beloved, his properties, and may be his hope. But he has still so much dignity, and when looking at him you fell so little. Such an expression in this face, of pride, internal fight, he is alive and proudly standing up. And this light in his eyes. No this man does not inspire pity, but only Respect with a great R. "C'est un Grand Monsieur" No needs to describe what has happened with him, sure it was terrible, but sure he asks nothing than our respect. Thanks for doing this photo Roberto and to share it with us

Excellent portrait, love it in the B&W tones and lighting. To be honest, without your descriptive words, this could be any interesting & well captured portrait. I think, IMO, that if you had a background that showed the physical landscape devastation behind him, then it might have more impact. Still worthy of a 5

Roberto, I must congratulate you on this. Without the contextual information, it is a very strong portrait. Only.
With the information - and above all, in the enlarged version - it takes on new dimensions. He has so much inner suffering showing in his face that it becomes almost too painful to look at it. Almost intrusive & voyeuristic, which makes the observer feel guilty. And that it is the mark of great photo-journalism of any tragedy.
I'm reading HaiHai's opening. It is that, exactly. Very fine work.
