Geir, Aline and Ruud~ win New Unofficial Contest

First of all we wanted to thank you all for taking part in the New Unofficial Contest, most beautiful picture of the month June 2008.
There were 82 participants in the contest who uploaded a picture.
The poster is hit for about 1760 times.
There were 213 valid vote’s count.
There were 12 pictures left for the second round.
This time Sergio Leitao joined us in the jury. Thanks to Sergio for helping us with all the work. Lali let us know that she couldn’t take part in the jury what we respect.
It was a hard decisions to select the most beautiful 3 pictures out of that 12. This month we had 12 pictures that are going on to round two. The votes were that close to each other that there were more pictures with the same rates.
In our opinion every single picture has something but we had to choose 3.
So here are the winners.
The first place goes to Geir Kristiansen. Congratulations Geir, you receive a Woophy icon.
The first thing that comes to our mind when we saw this photo is “We now believe in love at first sight”,
This is a magnificent mountain/lake landscape. The stillness of the lake gives us a typical quiet atmosphere of a high mountain, and also a little bit of mystery, enhanced by dramatic dark clouds.
But in our opinion what really makes the photo is the color’s contrast between the almost b&w scenery and the pastel colors of the island, attracting our eyes to those very beautiful houses that seems to invites us to a rest after the ascent.
Also the reflections of the houses in the lake are great, and those rocks on the right, complementing an almost perfect composition.
This is an excellent photo, many congratulation’s Geir, your work is absolutely amazing.

On the second place the picture of Aline:
The portrait of this Lady makes us wonder about what she is admiring. The glance and her dreamy face let us guess that she is regard something that is not from this world, an angel?
Technically a beautiful, well-composed picture, the sharpness lies perfectly on the sparkling green eyes. The feather throws a gorgeous shade over the eyes. The background disappears in the blurrily. Simply ravishing!

On the third place we selected the picture of Ruud~
Ruud shows us a very beautiful typical old Dutch street. We thought it must be one of the most beautiful streets of Leiden. We love the street of its beautiful Cobblestones which are rarely seen these days. The nice lantern in the front perfectly fits’ the old street and it look big in this shot which is very nice.
Typical also are the bicycles against the walls of the houses, typical Dutch.
Their aren’t any cars or people in the street what is very uncommon but very nice.
The lights on the walls are nice and warm as even are the colors, in our opinion a street shot with a good subject and a nice warm atmosphere.
