Searching pictures by member and new members page, only one thing disturbe me, the google publicity, I think sometimes is not really good advertising because there is someone that I consider her to be a machist and degradingly as the some countries. An example if you search in new member page 1 a member call savostin appear by default in my computer publicity like.

Do not believe that I am a conservative, but it seems to me that a site of photography might have better advertising. Best regards.

... No beautiful girls from Italy? Jokes aside, Pi, I agree with you. There is a lot of rubbish in the Internet, it is right trying not to get used to it.

Yes I don't notice them most of the time, but we have to realise that those advertisments ( girls or other things) bring money to woophy I think. I mean a site like this must cost a lot of money to maintain and google does not put those adds for free I beleive.

For what I know (but I am totally not sure and I am most likely wrong) I think that these kind of commercials are the ones that pay the most. I personally don't care, never looked once at those ads, but it would be nice if they weren't there.

I dont like those adds either. i'm sure there would be a other possibility of doing puplicity on woophy.. something what has nothing to do with sex and women who needs money and sell themself. (that was it is in my eyes!) something what has to do with fotography and travelling..!!
of course the cost must beeing payed. but does it has to be with those adds? no, i dont think so.

I write this comments like suggestion, because I know google publicity and goggle seach use an algoritm formule to do a relation in the searches , in this case the Ucranian member with Ucranian publicity. I know this kind of sites spend a lot of money and need sponsors, but maybe the administrators might speak with his advertisers that another type of advertising is wished. Best regards.

First of all, people should know how the Google adSense program works:
1. The website operator (like whoopy) doesn't get money for mere ad-impressions showed on the website (in contradiction to classic banners, which are paid per CPT = cost per thousand) 2. Only clicks on Google ads get paid (average 5 US$ Cent up to 20 US$ Cent, rarely more then 50 US$ Cent) 3. Google adSense analyses the contet of each page, where they are published. 4. In the next step appropriate ads (what google thinks) are shown on each page. That means, when you are writing this topic and use often the words "Ukraine girls" -> then of course there will be such mentioned ads (see the google ads on the right).
Can woophy avoid such ads? Yes - but only with much expenditure. Google adSense offers therefor a filter, where you can put all the URL's which you don't wanna have on the website. But the filter can't sort URL's with keywords like "sex" etc. So when you start putting URL's into the filter, it's like the story of Sisyphus and his stone, because there are thousands websites which will show up next.
Conclusio Just ignore them when you dislike some of the ads. At the end it's for all website operators a good and easy possibility to cover the expenses for hosting etc. and only little few of them "get rich" and earn really money with it (but please don't install an adBlocker, also I need the money from google to keep a website alive ;-)

Looks like most clients of adSense are of the chicks-for-free (At least I'm promised so by a german speaking ad) or chicks-for-sale or chicks-for-marriage variety. Few other businesses seem to be clients of adSense.
Have a look at this text in the keyword field from one image showing a Persian windtower:
"The windtowers on top of this cistern provide a natural aircondition, sucking up cool air from the underground water channels and get rid of the hot air under the roofs.
adobe, clay, wall, old, city, architecture, historic, history, wind, tower, wind catcher, badgir, badgeer, natural, ventilation, air conditioner, conditioning, Coanda effect, cool, cooling, attraction, monument, oasis, desert, town, Dasht-e Kavir, Dasht-e Lut, Yazd, persian, Persia, Iran, Middle East, Asia, Feb 2008"
Obviously there are no adSense clients for air conditioners, ventilation systems, adobe construction, architects, history books, Persian travel agencies, enriched Iranian uranium, etc. Just the word Asia is picked up and results in this ad being displayed underneath the image from Yazd, Iran:

Whoooooooooooooooooo, hope Shiite clergy does not declare holy war on adSense.

@zerega: hmmmm, maybe that would be a good use of the Shiite clergy.
If Woophy only gets paid for clicks thru, then maybe Woophy could share how they are doing on ad revenue )
Maybe we are a more lucrative group than we might like to imagine. On the other hand, if not, maybe Woophy should investigate other ad agencies.

@zerega: there are many google clients for air conditioners etc...
But the adWords campaign position of the clients depends on the "max CPC" - means how much clients are willing to pay for a single click. And - that's sadly a fact - those "Asia & co" invest more money for online advertisement and do set the CPC higher than others.
again: just ignore them - they don't hurt (at least not my eyes). But in case an ad is "more than untrustworthy" than it has to be reported google -> they'll kick out that client from the adSense program.
appendix: Always click on untrustworthy ads to check them out! ...woophy will appreciate it

@ scarlet and others
The ratio revenue ads <> costs of hosting is about 1 <> 4. So the ads cover 25 % of the costs to keep Woophy online. The Woophy staff consists entirely of volunteers

@Joris: I'm surprised about your openness. But if that is true, than I really feel sorry for woophy and you are doing something wrong.
150.000 unique clients and 450.000 page impressions per month - and a ratio of 1:4 ?! You are joking! Implement Google Analytics -> get valid data -> look out for an adserver service provider.
Your banner CPM is only 10Eur -> that should attract enough advertiser...
appendix: I had a look on your source code and found <!-- BEGIN van de zanox-afilliate HTML-code -->. So I got curious... Sorry, but http://zonax.com is exactly what the others are complaining, isn't it?

@Joris: My message was meant to be "tongue in cheek" but I can assure you that I never click on the ads. I don't mean to criticize the work you folks do, and I've said it before--I'd be happy to pay something to be a Woophy member, even when I've been on a long hiatus from here (my choice). I said what I did to encourage you to get a better ad server.

@scarlet: I guess you misunderstood something. Just click every day on 4-5 ads. At the end of the month it's the same as a "10-30 Dollars subscription" for woophy
Definitely the easiest way to support this site... (although the terms of condition from google don't allow to promote such behavior)

No, I didn't miunderstand. Why waste my time clicking on crappy ads? I'd rather pay and have the ads go away entirely. They junk up the place. OK, I'm DONE with this topic.

Maybe if there were some good photography adds people will click on these adds but I don't think this will make that much money for Woophy.
Imagine there is a really nice add to a site of a really good photoshop tutorials, I think many people will hit this add and Woophy makes good money of this.
Adds of Ukraine girls don't get that much hits I suppose.........
